Preventing and controlling corrosion with chemical inhibitors and coatings
Corrosion inhibitors are perhaps the most cost effective way to prevent and control metal corrosion. Most corrosive liquids and environments require only a very small amount of corrosion inhibitor, such as a few parts per million or a fraction of a percent, to effectively prevent and control metal corrosion.
There are well over 3,000 different chemicals that are promoted as inhibiting corrosion. However, most of these chemicals only inhibit very specific liquids or environments. Thus, the task of selecting a corrosion inhibitor is often daunting.
Dr. Steve Tait has over 30 years experience with selecting corrosion inhibitors for a wide range of corrosive liquids and corrosive environments. His unique approach to selecting and screening corrosion inhibitors quickly transforms corrosive formulas and environments into non corrosive ones.
He is one of only eighteen NACE International certified corrosion specialists who are certified in corrosion inhibitor development, and has multiple patents for corrosion inhibitors. Steve's experience encompasses a wide range of situations, and he specializes in selecting and screening corrosion inhibitors to prevent and control metal container and processing equipment corrosion.
Dr. Steve Tait also has extensive knowledge and experience on using conversion coatings, metal coatings and polymer coatings to prevent and control corrosion either by themselves, or in conjunction with other methods for preventing and controlling corrosion.
